Hydrogen-Rich Water Increases Physical Endurance in Overweight Women

Consuming hydrogen-rich water improves quality of life in middle-aged overweight women by helping to increase their physical endurance. This is because hydrogen has a beneficial effect on body composition, metabolic profiles, and mitochondrial function. This is the conclusion of an experimental study involving a total of 12 women. The study was designed to analyze the effects of hydrogen-rich water consumption in women aged 40 to 65 who are struggling with obesity. Their ability to perform physical exercises was monitored. The participants were divided into two groups. For 28 days, one group consumed 1 liter of hydrogen-rich water per day, while the other group consumed the same amount of plain water. The women’s condition was assessed at the beginning and end of the study to compare the results. Changes in two key indicators were observed. The first is cardiorespiratory endurance—the ability of the heart, lungs, and muscles to function effectively during prolonged physical activity. The second indicator relates to physical performance, the impact of weight on quality of life, and hematological biomarkers (diagnosis of hematological diseases). During the study, participants were instructed to maintain their usual lifestyle and dietary habits without using any additional dietary supplements. At the end of the study, a significant improvement in cardiorespiratory endurance was observed in the group consuming hydrogen-rich water compared to the group consuming plain water. Significant differences were also observed in the time to complete exhaustion, as well as in the performance of physical exercises with gradually increasing intensity. Thanks to the results of this study, as well as numerous others, it has been confirmed that hydrogen-rich water can be used as an alternative hydration option that supports effective exercise performance. Consuming hydrogen-rich water helps increase endurance and improve muscle performance and strength.
